Food Study: Bananas

The food experiments continued this weekend. We've tested out several veggies so I thought we'd move onto some fruit hoping for better results.

Test Subject: Amelia

Age: 6 months 3 weeks

Experimental Substance: Banana

Results: One bite is all you need! No seriously, one bite that's it, for life. You will never need to taste another banana as long as you live.

Jumper-won't?

Our Dr. recommended getting a Jumperoo for Amelia since she doesn't put weight on her legs if you hold her up, at least not very often. Supposedly it's a 4 month milestone, but she must not have read the books. A couple weeks ago some friends described the jumperoo as "Baby Crack". One friend said her son actually gets mad if they walk past it and he doesn't get to get in it. Dr recommended and friend approved can't be bad!

Unfortunately Amelia doesn't seem to believe all the hype. She has jumped a few times, but mostly her legs just hang there. She is only mildly interested in playing with the attached toys and is mostly just frustrated that none of them can reach her mouth. Apparently Amelia doesn't have the same addiction problems as other babies. Or maybe she's too busy with her obsessive behavior to floor spots to become addicted to a toy. One neurosis at a time!

These Are My Feet And This Is Not Daycare

Our daycare was closed yesterday so I took Amelia to Pat and Larry's for the day. It was way too early if you ask me. We left the house about 5:45am. Little Miss Lucky Pants slept the whole way while I chugged coffee like the Colombians were going on strike. Don't worry Mom, they're not :)

Looks like she had a good time, and she got to do a little shopping. Apparently even though it's the middle of July, Ellensburg is still windy (and a little cool). What wind in Ellensburg?!?! Who would have guessed? So Grandma took her to town for a new jacket. Although I don't have all the details I imagine the rest of the day was spent rolling, army crawling and urping (aka spitting up). I think that's a safe assumption.

New Food Study

We are conducting a series of new food experiments in our house. So far we have tested rice cereal, avocados, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, and green beans. With the exception of rice cereal, all were deemed edible, but not exciting.

Here are the results from the latest test:

Test Subject: Amelia
Age: 6.5 months
Weight (as of 7/6/2009): 16lbs 8oz
Height (as of 7/6/2009): 27.5in
Experimental Substance: Applesauce

Results: Not for human consumption!! If you ingest this substance make a terrible face and spit it out ASAP. We were able to witness the best technique to do this and it's shown below.

We'll keep you updated on any further studies.

What's black and blue and wearing only a bikini top?

You were a little scared to keep reading weren't you? Head out of the gutter, this is a family blog! It's the newest addition to our automotive family. Travis bought a 1946 Willys Jeep. At least I think that's what he told me it was. You know how wives are; they never listen. Or is that husbands? Anyway, I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong. His Grandpa Don got one a couple weeks ago and he was hooked.

Travis was looking for something to replace his '57 Chevy pickup. The truck just has too much work that needs to be done and we, meaning him, have no place to work on it. In case you're wondering...it's for sale if you're interested ;)

His newest project is already a big step up in that it runs and won't be sitting in our backyard. Although he did already have to jury rig the breaks a little to keep them working until he can get parts. He assures me it's perfectly safe, and the only way to do a good burnout. It's best we don't find out more details on how he knows this. It's not perfect, but what is? He's happy with it, so I am too.
